Grand Rounds/Regularly Scheduled Conferences Overview
The University of Minnesota Office of Continuing Medical Education (OCME) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor educational activities. The ACCME defines Regularly Scheduled Conferences (RSCs) as:
"Daily, weekly, or monthly CME activities of ACCME accredited providers that are primarily planned by and presented to the provider's professional staff."
Typical types of these activities include Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs and Case Conferences. The OCME follows the guidelines and standards that are set by the ACCME for granting credit to RSCs. Full compliance and documentation are required in order to receive credit and certificates. The OCME will maintain a tracking system for those materials that are required to be on file in our department.
These Web pages are designed to provide understanding regarding the RSCs process and the tools to help facilitate ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement in order to ensure full compliance.
For an RSC to be considered for CME credit, the Grand Rounds Series Certification Questionnaire must be completed
and turned into our office for approval.
