Description

Child Abuse Summit: Tips from the Team is designed to provide medical and professionals from all disciplines with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to properly identify and respond to all types of child and family maltreatment including physical abuse, sexual abuse, and/or neglect. 

Target Audience

The anticipated audience for this activity includes physicians, nurses, pathologists, law enforcement, attorneys, social workers, CPS workers, emergency department personnel and first responders, and all other related professionals.  We estimate that approximately 350 professionals will attend this summit.

Educational Objectives

Following completion of this activity, learners should be better able to:

  • Identify sentinel injuries and the need for further child abuse work-up.
  • Recall the mandatory reporting obligation and the role of CPS.
  • Describe the meaning of trauma-informed case as well as ways to improve service delivery.
  • Identify different forms of child abuse and neglect.
